Gone Fishin... in my basement!

You may have noticed a lack of activity here lately.  I have taken a short vacation this week from news sites in general, and the TH blogs also.  With all the hoopla happening in the cesspool known as DC I needed a break in order to preserve my sanity and blood pressure.  Just seeing all the pictures so copiously plastered on the web in general is enough to destroy my attitude for the entire day.  At work I have been working alone this week and I have kept the TV turned off.  I am not trying to make things go away by ignoring them, I am just trying to preserve sanity for the time being.  The bad news for our nation these past couple of weeks seems to have been coming in huge waves and it is very hard for me to watch our republic being torn asunder from within.

I have been spending much more time at the reloading bench and my online time lately has been devoted to researching reloading data.  Reloading is a  hobby that I find very relaxing and mentally soothing.  Thanks Dad, for introducing me to this wonderful hobby.  I do not have much faith in how long this activity will remain legal so I am spending as much time as I can right now enjoying it.  Besides, it has been good to spend some quality time teaching my Step-Son too.

Take care all, I do check my email so holler if you need to.  I'll be back posting more when things settle down a bit.

Thieves and Sneeks in DC

Well, it did not take them long to make their move.  The scumbag Senate Majority Leader from Nevada is pushing through legislation in the Senate to STEAL more land from our citizens and lock it up in the form of Wilderness.  What angers me the most is they have kept this bill hushed and are trying to push it through THIS SUNDAY!  Take a look at the text for this bill:

S. 22 is the bill to create more Federal Wilderness land and it includes an enormous amount of pork.

With fuel prices low and all eyes on other political fur-balls they seem to feel that they can sneak this bill in under the radar.  I assume they feel this is their only opportunity to repay the Environmental lobby for it's support this past election.  The timing of this bill infuriates me, they plan to SNEEK it through before any of us notice.  We caught ya, you smarmy thieving sneeking varmints.

I plan to E-mail both of my two tree-hugging Senators from Washington state and tell them of my adamant opposition to this bill.  I would encourage all of you to do the same.  I don't think I need to express to any of you what the results of this bill will be, you have witnessed already what a disaster ANWR and other "protected land" has become already for us.  The last thing we need right now is for more of our potential energy bearing land to be locked up with Wilderness status.  I see this as just one more tiny peice in the scheme to control all aspects of our life and rob us of our liberties.

Tax Poem

A friend sent me this poem so I thought I would share it.  I do not know who wrote it but since it was requested for me to share it with my email list I doubt if they will mind me posting it here.

The Tax Poem

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his *ss.
Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
Upon his tomb,
'Taxes drove me to my doom...'

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

After the incredibly audacious move by the Marxist Pelosi to remove the Fairness Act from the House rules I am beginning to see some solid grounds for the grievance "No Taxation without Equal Representation" coming to the fore.  By effectively silencing our Conservative voices we definitely now have a valid grievance on these grounds.  Our government is quickly becoming Tyrannical.

My New Years Revolution

In past years I have foregone making any New Years Resolutions.  Most people make them and proceed to break them almost as fast as they thought them up.  This year I am changing my ways.  The incoming changes in our government have forced me to rethink my complacency and consider getting more active as an American Citizen.  I realized that sitting back silently waiting for someone else to fight my battles is a sure way to lose my freedom.  If every American Citizen can do just one little thing to resist the incoming socialistic government,  we may just have a chance of avoiding complete tyranny by the government.

Here is the list of items I am going to TRY to do in the coming year:

  1. Refresh my knowledge of our Constitution.  It has been years since I really read the document and while I am familiar with what it contains in a general sense I need to brush up and refresh my memory.  I see many Constitutional challenges coming up in the next few years and I must be able to recognize them when they appear so I can act upon them.  The Democrats see the Constitution as a "Living Document" to be changed capriciously as THEY see fit.  I see our Constitution as a sacred document not to be changed lightly,  if at all.
  2. Become more active in communicating my wishes and thoughts on legislation to my Representatives.  Not doing so leaves my elected Representatives uninformed about the wishes of their constituents.  I also need to make sure they understand I am watching their every vote and will do my utmost to see that they are either reelected or NOT reelected in the coming elections if they fail to properly vote their constituents wishes.
  3. Do every thing I can to passively resist the socialist agenda that I believe will be coming from our newly elected government.  Whatever means I can use to resist them is a small price to pay for the freedoms I enjoy now and wish to keep.  Refusing to spend any bailout check, refusing to deal with any company who has received a federal bailout, refusing to participate in a universal health care system, refusing to abide by a coded ammunition law if enacted are some of the ways I feel I can resist their agenda.
  4. Become more active in spreading the word on issues that concern conservative values.  I will pass information on to others who share my conservative values.  I will work on convincing those who are either undecided or uninformed to seek out more information on issues so they will be better informed and can make a more educated decision about issues effecting our country and our freedom.  This blog and e-mail are tools that can be used to spread the word to fellow conservatives and to enlighten the uneducated.
  5. Stand against and expose the Liberal Liars for what they are.  Silence by conservatives is,  in effect,  aiding and abetting the liberal cause.  I will be silent no longer, I will not allow twisted half-truths or lies to pass by unanswered.  I must shed the old "Live and let live" philosophy that I have practiced since it was handed down to me by my parents.  The liberal enemy does not abide by this principle, they are becoming more and more intrusive into our everyday lives.  The Liberals continue to pressure us to accept their agenda whether or not we agree with them.
  6. Live each day with Honor, Integrity and Moral principles no matter how hard the Left tries to take those values from me.  The Left has neither honor, integrity nor any moral principles and by their very nature they will never have any of these values.
I believe the list above is within my means to accomplish.  It is only a starting point and will most likely need added to, or amended,  throughout the coming year.  I may not be able to personally change the course of our great nation with this list,  but,  I WILL be able to look myself in the mirror and be proud of the American citizen I see staring back at me.

God Bless America and watch over us through coming turmoil.

Divorce Court?

For many years I have wondered how long the happy and productive marriage we call the United States of America could remain a viable entity.  Every year it seems like the philosophical, social and religious differences between conservative and liberal citizens, both rural and urban,  becomes measurably wider.  Neither partner is willing to make the required concessions needed to mend their differences.  Neither partner finds these necessary concessions palatable and both are willing to fight changing their own beliefs to the bitter end.  In any normal marriage of our time,  differences this large and uncompromising would bring them to the decision of filing for a dissolution in a divorce court on the grounds of "irreconcilable differences".

I recently saw a link on the Drudge Report featuring an article in the Wall Street Journal which reinforces my belief that our country is headed to an inevitible dissolution.  Russian Professor Igor Panarin seems to think so too.  The article starts off with this:

"For a decade, Russian academic Igor Panarin has been predicting the U.S. will fall apart in 2010. For most of that time, he admits, few took his argument -- that an economic and moral collapse will trigger a civil war and the eventual breakup of the U.S. -- very seriously. Now he's found an eager audience: Russian state media."

You can read the article yourself to see what else the Professor has to say.  His basic point is that our differences here in the U.S.of A. are and will become so great that we will not be able to address them short of division and strife.  I am afraid he may very well be correct.  I believe that "Red state" voters would happily seceed from the Union and restore our Republic in the manner it was created minus the Marxist Blue states.  I am also equally sure that the "Blue state" voters would not be willing to allow this to happen.  They have too much to lose if the heartland of our country is no longer under their thumb.  I find the Professor's noted timeline of the 2010 election year interesting.  More stolen elections like the one currently going on in Minnesota and other power grabs that we have witnessed recently may just be the spark to ignite the tinder of rebellion.

Conservatives, especially the rural variety, will only be pushed so far,  can only ignore so much,  before they are forced to actively rebel against the tyrany of the leftists.  While I pray to God that our country does not fall into a civil war,  I personally would prefer to have a rural conservative watching my back as opposed to an urban liberal.  At least the rural conservative usually knows which end of the "shootin iron" the projectile exits!

May God grant us the wisdom to persevere and make the right choices in the future.  May God help us if we fail.

Goodbye TV, its been Interesting

Goodbye TV.  It has been interesting knowing you for the last forty seven years, give or take.
My earliest recollections are from around age 3 or 4, back when you were just black, white and snow.  You sure had a funny set of ears back then and hadn't yet developed your remote.  Yep, you were still a relative youngster then; exciting, inovative, the wave of the future.  We grew up together.  You were always a bit older than me, a bit wiser,  full of answers most of the time.

Somewhere along the way though, we drifted apart.  Much was due to apathy and new interests on my part, the other reason was because you abandoned much of what I believed to be our previously shared principles.

I think it was about the time you went to college that our views began to differ.  Could it have been the liberal proffessors you sat for hours listening to,  or was it the peace protest marches outside your classroom windows?  Somehow you came away from college a different person.  Somehow you always seemed to voice more and more liberal rhetoric regardless of the truth or what the scientific facts confirmed.  Change, any change,  from the "Establishment" was encouraged.  It mattered nothing to you that the Establishment was founded on tried and true methods developed over many years of trial and error.  History matters little when you are young, brash and know it all.  Chet, David and Walter all left you shaking their heads and muttering to themselves about times changing for the worse(little did they know of their own part in that change).

It may have been during your college years that you were introduced to drugs, alcohol and "Free Love".  For many years that seemed to be your only focus.  You had millions that idolized you for your free-wheeling lifestyle and devil-may-care attitude.  You were THE Star, you were the one everyone wanted to hang around with every spare minute they could find.

Some of us continued to grow up and soon found our fascination with you waning.  The same old, tired, stories you continually presented.  The re-telling of other stories badly done.  When you ran out of the old stories you moved on to real world stories that were made to seem  adventurous with "Reality TV".  Drug dealers, Prostitutes, Politicians and other common criminals became the new stars for your new generation to idolize and admire.  Gone was your once proud proclamation that "Good will always triumph over Evil".  Your stars were now, more often than not,  of the Evil faction and Good just barely scraped by.  Gone are the Heros fighting for truth, justice and the American way.  All the Heros were indifferently thrown under the bus for greed and ratings.

On February 17th of 2009,  as I understand it, you will be moving to a new address.  I am sorry have to tell you, but I will not be visiting you after you move.  Our friendship is now beyond repair and I am not willing to pay the required tithes and make the other commitments to visit you.  I am sure your new friends on the Left will keep you company while you and they exchange compliments and fawn over each other.  It is a match made somewhere but I doubt it was created in heaven.

So TV, its Goodbye, Adios, Farewell.  I would say "God go with you", but I know for the most part, you no longer believe in God.  I only wish you luck in your future endeavors because I believe your success in the future is based purely upon luck and not talent.  Should you ever decide to change your ways and return to a moral, just, and patriotic attitude let me know and I might consider renewing our acquaintance.

TANSTAAFL

Many of you may be familiar with the title of this post, some of you may not.  It is an acronym coined by the great Science Fiction writer Robert Anson Heinlein.  I am a great fan of all his work and much of his philosophy.  I understand that our fellow TownHall blogger GunnyG is also a Heinlein fan.

TANSTAAFL stands for: "There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch".

Mr. Heinlein coined the term in the 1940s and later used it in his best selling 1966 novel "The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress".  Such a simple acronym that truly describes how life really works.  Mr. Heinlein understood this and voiced his conservative and libertarian political leanings throughout his writing.  He wrote many other essays, many of which were compiled and published posthumously by his request in the book "Grumbles From The Grave" which I highly recommend reading.  A most ironic thing for a Science Fiction writer to be a conservative when you think about it.

Our country could use a rather large dose of Mr. Heinlein's philosophy right now.  Everywhere you look these days there seems to be a hand stuck out seeking something for nothing.  If the people doing this really understood TANSTAAFL they might be less inclined to stick that mitt out there so readily.  Somewhere, somehow, we will all pay for these so called "free lunches".  To believe otherwise is totally delusional.  Higher taxes, a lower quality of life, lowered services and fewer freedoms are all on the list of payment due in our future.  We must decline these free lunch offers and demand accountability from our government.

The Democratic battle cry "Change we can believe in" echo's hollowly after their recent victory.  Now they will have to produce on their promise.  No one seems to know what these changes will entail or if there will actually be any real changes.  All we have seen so far is Clinton era Democrats recapturing  positions lost when President Bush won in the 2000 election.  More of a "Reversion" than a "Change" if you ask me.

I will close this post with a few words of wisdom quoted from Robert Anson Heinlein (1907 - 1988).  Rest in Peace good sir, many of us dearly miss your musings.

"Be wary of strong drink. It can make you shoot at tax collectors... and miss."

"I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do."

"Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire."

"You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once."

"There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him."

"Does history record any case in which the majority was right?"

***            ***          ***                 ***                  ***

"The capacity of the human mind for swallowing nonsense and spewing it forth in violent and repressive action has never yet been plumbed."

"A committee is the only known form of life with a hundred bellies and no brain."

"Rules, laws - always for the other fellow. A murky part of us, something we had before we came down out of trees, and failed to shuck when we stood up. Because not one of those people said: Please pass this so that I won't be able to so something I know I should stop. Nyet, tovarishchee, was always something they hated to see neighbors doing. Stop them for their own good"

"Democracy is based on the assumption that a million men are wiser than one man. How's that again? I missed something.
Autocracy is based on the assumption that one man is wiser than a million men. Let's play that over again, too. Who decides?"

"I don't trust a man who talks about ethics when he is picking my pocket. But if he is acting in his own self-interest and says so, I have usually been able to work out some way to do business with him."

"The two highest achievements of the human mind are the twin concepts of "loyalty" and "duty." Whenever these twin concepts fall into disrepute — get out of there fast! You may possibly save yourself, but it is too late to save that society. It is doomed."

***Edited 12/24/08*** to add a few more quotes appropriate for our time.

I hope you enjoy these quotes as much as I do.

Is passive resistance enough?

Like many here at TownHall I dread the incoming administration and its blatantly socialist agenda.  To see a form of government already proven to be a failure multiple times over,  instituted in my own country,  is a nightmare come true.  With the looming menace of bigger government becoming more and more a part of our lives I think many of us have had thoughts wondering how we can actively fight or at least resist the incoming socialist regime.  I have not seen any plan yet that holds any great promise to stop the expansion of government into our lives.  I do hold out some hope that someone smarter than I am will figure out some way we can resist in a meaningful and useful way.

In the meantime, I have decided that until a better plan comes along I will passively resist any and all programs or agendas that are put forth by the incoming administration.  I have only heard of a few of the proposed programs, Universal Healthcare being the major one.  If or when they institute this program I will not participate.

If they send me a "bailout" check, I will not deposit it but rather cash it and stash the money away outside of the banking institutions.  Depositing this money keeps it in the system while cash unspent removes it from the same system.  I will not purchase any product from any company which has been or continues to be propped up by our new socialist government.  I think a more robust form of the barter system is bound to appear in our nation as people seek to avoid supplying our government with funds from sales of goods and products.  I will do so whenever I can.

Feel free to post,  in the comments section here,  any additional ways in which we all can passively resist the socialists and I will try edit this post to show these ideas as soon as I can.  Together we can possibly hamper, even if we cannot stop,  some of the Marxist dellusions of grandeur taking over our country.

Obama, Pelosi and Reid,
impeachment is what we all need!
Get rid of the RED, we'd be better off dead,
than to suffer your Marxist greed.

Forgive me waxing poetic (poorly), I couldn't resist myself.

Marx Lied, Millions Died

I laugh every time I hear the moronic mantra of the left:  "Bush Lied, People Died".  This coming from the followers of the mastermind of the greatest cause of death in the history of the world; Karl Marx.  I do not believe anyone has ever been able to conclusively attribute an exact number of deaths caused by Marxism, Socialism and Communism but the totals must be staggering.  All of these "ism's" have roots that trace their lineage back to this one man.

If you peruse an unrevised history book (if you can find one these days) you will see that within all of the above mentioned "ism's" you have an elite ruling class and a lower "worker" class.  As Mr. Vassar Bushmills points out in a recent blog post, the "ism's" elite rulers use privilege as the proverbial carrot on a stick to entice correct behavior or to punish incorrect behavior.  When removing privileges is not sufficient to entice correct behavior,  incarceration,  labor camps and lastly, execution,  are the historically preferred methods of dealing with dissidents.

Here are a few figures of deaths by genocide or mass murder attributed to various "ism's" I found courtesy of R.J Rummel;

USSR -  from 1917 to 1987---61,911,000 victims
Communist China - 38,702,000 victims
Cambodian Khmer Rouge - 2,400,000 victims
North Korea - 1,600,000 victims (average estimate, actual totals unknown)

Time spent viewing Mr. Rummel's website is very enlightening.  He does list ALL cases of democide (death by government)  including "legitimate wars".

My entire reason for this post is to point out how hypocritical it is for the current Leftists to shout their "Bush Lied, People Died" mantra.  The followers of the ideologies of Karl Marx have caused an enormously greater amount of suffering and death through the administration of their preferred form of government.  It is impossible to estimate how many lives were actually SAVED in Iraq through the intervention of Coalition forces but that is not a relevant issue for your average leftist lunatic.  Acquiring power and privilege over the proletariat are the main goals of the leftist elite.

Marx Lied, MILLIONS Died!

Three feet high and risin!

The Pacific Northwest has really been hit hard with more major Global Warming this past week.  All signs indicate it will remain so for a while.  Almost every town within a 50 mile radius of my house has set a new 24 hour snowfall record.  Our area has averaged 24" in the past 24 hours.  Adding to previous snowfalls,  we now have over 3 feet of snow on the ground and more on the way.  All of this with Christmas still more than a week away.   If this blog should suddenly become silent it is more than likely because the author suffered the same fate as Otzi the Iceman.   Although I enjoy them in the summertime it has never been my ambition in life to become a popsicle.

That Grand Pooh-Bah of Global Warming, the Great Al Goracle,  assures us we are on the brink of destruction via heating caused by man's very existance.  Could'a fooled me!  It was -15 degrees at my house night before last.  I wish he would come to my house and educate me on the global warming theory.  At least we could huddle close to him and allow his copious expulsions of hot air to keep us from freezing.  I'm beginning to wonder if this is why he is so convinced that global warming is real?   Being a huge perveyor of hot air and continuely surrounding himself with like minded people 24/7 would tend to make anyone think the world was heating up!

I wish the world's scientists would concentrate on other more important threats to our civilization rather than waste their time on Global Warming.

Research on creating more varied basketweaving patterns offers huge potential to save our world.  With so many liberal arts majors in our Universities right now they must be getting bored to DEATH with the same old patterns.  At least researchers might be able to keep liberal arts majors busy in school until they reach retirement age thereby keeping them away from mainstream society and especially politics.

Finding a cure for liberalism should be high on the medical research list.  I understand several medical researchers have turned their efforts towards a viable vacine after multiple failed attempts to cure liberalism using therapeutic lobotomy treatments.  Unfortunately they found no noticeable difference between the diseased pre-operative and post-operative patients.  Major proponents of the vacine idea believe that giving this vacine to children at age 6 will allow the children to continue growing intellectually, unlike those afflicted with the liberal disease.

I think it is our civic duty to distract our science establishment from their myopic focus on global warming.

I'm currently trying to do my part saving our enviroment.  I have developed a proto-type alternative energy product.  It consists of a mini-micro wind turbine designed to be mounted on the chins of politicians.  On second thought it might not be a good idea to give a politician any MORE power!

2655

Two Thousand, six hundred and fifty five.  Big number, eh?  Too large for the average ADHD inflicted American to comprehend.  You see, for those of you that do not know, this is the number of days since the last time America was attacked.

I wish to thank President Bush for keeping us safe.  I did not vote for President George W. Bush.  I did not vote for Al Gore.  I am not a party registered voter.  I voted for another candidate that I felt better represented my political views.  I have not supported many of the things that President Bush has done while in office.  Any attempts to increase our governments size or spending I have opposed.

Regardless of who I voted for or how I feel about domestic issues I am proud of the job our current Commander-in-Chief,  and by extension the military and civilians under his command, have done keeping the American people safe.  The  challenges presented to him have been unending.  His devotion to keeping us safe has been unwavering.  Opposition to his devotion has been overwhelming.  I can think of no other President faced with armed attack upon our country who has had to fight so many of his own countryman,  so hard and for so long,  to protect us from those who would do us harm.  Yet, President Bush has fought on, never forgetting the horror of that September morning and the loss of life we suffered that day.  Many of our fellow Americans have done everything within their power to try and derail President Bush's prosecution of our war on terror.  From the House, to the Senate, to the NGO's like the ACLU and their pack of rabid lawyers, they have all fought him tooth and nail in support of our enemy whether consciously or unconsciously.  You can tell from his demeanor when the subject comes up that President Bush knows the fallacy of appeasement.  The enemies who attacked us have not forgotten their purpose and will continue on their chosen path undeterred unless stopped.

President Bush swore an oath of office twice.  He swore to: "Protect and defend from all enemies, foriegn or domestic....."

Mr. Bush, Sir, as of today mission accomplished and job well done!   I can think of no finer legacy to leave office with than to be able to say you protected your country to the end.

Let us pray that your successor does this job half as well as you have done.

Oath or swear words?

Sitting here watching the antics of our elected officials in Washington D.C. I often wonder if they understood the words of the oath they took when they assumed office?  Did they hear what they were saying as they repeated this oath back to the person swearing them in?  Or was it just an inconvenient little ceremony on their way to obtaining power?

Here is the oath of office for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives:

"I, AB, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.''*

http://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/common/briefing/Oath_Office.htm

http://clerk.house.gov/member_info/oathoffice.html  *(oath copied from this site)*

In recent times I have trouble believing that many of our Senators or Representatives truly understood this oath, especially the section that says:

"I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same"

Regardless of their political views American Citizens must know the contents of this oath and demand that our elected representatives maintain this oath through their actions.  Subversion of our Constitution must not be allowed.  Too many of our elected officials have a strong desire to change the wording or meaning of our well crafted and time tested Constitution because it is inconvenient to political expediency.  They try to outmaneuver the very oath they took through latrine lawyering.  This path is a slippery slope upon which to tread and by their own oath they are mandated not to do so.  When they try, we must shut them down.

I urge everyone to remind your Senators and Representatives of their oath and hold them to it.  If you see them breaking this oath call them to account and spread the word of their misdeeds.  Unless we start policing our public servants more actively as responsible citizens we will lose our sacred system of governance forever.  WE must be the watchdogs of OUR Constitution, ever vigilant, ever responsive.

Learn your Constitution from cover to cover and understand the meaning of each section as it was written.  You cannot support and defend something you are unaware of.  All too many of us have become complacent in this regard and we are now seeing the results of our complacency.

Note: I apologize for not linking the Senate oath, TownHall.com did not seem to want to let me do so.  You can copy and paste it to your browser window if you wish to view the actual page.

Globull Warming Sux!

I'm not sure that I can take much more of this Global Warming that Al Goricle keeps preaching to us about.  If we get any more of it where I live I will have to buy crampons and an ice pick just to get from my house to my vehicles (due to an inadvertantly and unintended show of support to the enviromental crusades I do not have a garage to park them in).  Today's high temperature was a downright steamy 20 degree's Fahrenheit!  Relief is in sight though as the temperatures are supposed to cool off for us tomorrow with a high temperature of 6 degree's Fahrenheit and the low temperature of -4 degree's Fahrenheit.  Oh yeah, I almost forgot the 8" of rain in solid form that I had to plow off of my 1/4 mile driveway this morning.

They say that Global Warming is the leading cause of mass extinctions.  The way the weather has been lately I believe that Sheep are on the top of the extinction list.  I personally have to wear several layers of wool clothing to regulate my body temperature and I will probably need many more in the coming days if I decide to go outside and "commune with nature".  Shearing those sheep must be the leading cause of their demise, what with all the hot weather we are having lately.

Some of the leading advocates of Global Warming dismiss lower than normal temperatures as "local anomalies" and "shifting weather patterns".  I guess they define "local" as encompassing the entire northern and western hemisphere.  I guess that IS local when you consider the entire earth.  Headlines (copied and pasted from the actual article) like the following make me believe them too:

"Crews fight cold, ice to return power to Northeast"

"Rare snow falls in south Louisiana, Miss., Alabama"

"Wicked winter storm pounds California" *

As you can see, it is brutally hot all across our country this year!  If I'm not mistaken the only headline I am missing was one from the Midwest.  I think the reason I missed it is because it is buried beneath a couple feet of Global Warming somewhere near Omaha or Souix Falls.

So, in the interest of saving a few sheep and halting the rising temperatures please go out and purchase one of those spiffy new electric or hydrogen fuel cell cars that you see crowding all the dealership lots.  Hybrid cars still burn that pesky carbon based fuel so if you use one you may just be the one person responsible for causing me to freeze to death from Global Warming.

To quote the great Tompall Glaser's song; "Put another log on the fire....."

Oh and don't forget,  SAVE A SHEEP!

* Dated Jan., 2008, but we are talking about the same year.
